Half of A4, with its own job
Fold an A4 page in half and you get A5: 148 x 210 mm, or 5.83 x 8.27 inches. It is the size of a paperback page, and it is how much of the world prints small brochures, menus and certificates. An A5 folder keeps those pieces together without bulk.
The closed folder measures about 160 x 220 mm (6.3 x 8.66 in). Open flat it reaches roughly 320 x 220 mm. Six millimeters of margin on each side lets sheets slide in and out without catching.

A5 presentation folders with pockets and slits
A single right-hand pocket about 75 mm tall suits most uses. Two pockets work well for a menu on one side and a wine list on the other. A capacity pocket fits a small booklet or a stack of vouchers.
Slits can hold an 85 x 55 mm card or a US 3.5 x 2 inch card. Hotels often add a slit for the room key card. For key-card-only packets, our hotel key card folders are a slimmer build.
From sheet to finished A5 folder
- Confirm your sheets are A5 and note any cards or booklets that ride along.
- Decide whether the inside stays blank or carries a printed message.
- Choose your logo treatment: full color, foil or blind embossing.
- Set the art on our A5 die-line in millimeters with 3 mm bleed.
- Approve the proof and we print, crease and glue the pockets.
Certificates, menus and guest welcome packs
Training centers hand out A5 certificates in a folder that protects them on the trip home. An A5 certificate folder with a foil or embossed crest looks formal without the size of a full diploma cover. Our certificate folders for awards cover larger formats.
Boutique hotels, spas and resorts place A5 welcome packs in rooms. Restaurants abroad print A5 set menus, and wedding planners send A5 itineraries to guests from overseas. Tour operators slip vouchers and maps into the same format.
A5 or 6x9: picking the closer fit
A US 6 x 9 folder is about 152 x 229 mm, only 4 mm wider than an A5 sheet. The sheet goes in, but the edges rub every time. An A5 folder adds width and trims height, so it looks made for the page.
Choose 6x9 when your inserts are US half-letter at 5.5 x 8.5 inches. Choose A5 when your inserts follow metric sizes. If you mix both, ask through our quote form for A5 folders and we will size one folder for the larger sheet.
Small folder, careful details
- Plain unprinted inside for a clean, blank look
- Embossed crest on linen for formal certificates
- Kraft board with white ink for a natural style
- Key card slit for hotel welcome packs
- Glued pockets that hold up to repeat handling
- Fits a C5 envelope for mailing abroad
A5 Presentation Folders: questions we get
What size is an A5 presentation folder?
Ours close at about 160 x 220 mm, which is 6.3 x 8.66 inches. That holds a 148 x 210 mm A5 sheet with a small margin.
Can I order A5 presentation folders blank inside?
Yes. Many clients print the cover only and leave the inside plain. You can also order one-color printing for a simple, low-ink look.
Will an A5 folder fit in an envelope?
A C5 envelope (162 x 229 mm) is the usual match. With thick inserts, size up to a slightly larger envelope.
Can I emboss my logo on an A5 folder?
Yes. Blind embossing, debossing and foil all work on the small cover. Keep fine lines bold so the detail survives at this size.
Is A5 the same as US half-letter?
No. Half-letter is 5.5 x 8.5 inches (140 x 216 mm), a touch narrower and taller than A5. Each size has its own folder.
Who usually orders A5 folders in the US?
Hotels with international guests, language schools, training providers and companies that send certificates abroad. Wedding planners with overseas guests order them too. The common thread is paper that follows metric sizes rather than US half-letter.
