Custom Magnetic Closure Folders for Premium Presentations

Custom magnetic closure folders have a front flap with magnets hidden inside the board, so the folder snaps shut on its own. They turn a proposal, welcome kit or gift card into a small reveal.

  • Hidden magnets in flap
  • Snaps shut, no clasp
  • Rigid or heavy stock
  • Foil or full color cover

A Flap That Closes With a Soft Click

Most folders rely on pockets to hold papers in. A magnetic folder adds a third panel that wraps over the front edge. Thin, flat magnets are set inside that flap and inside the cover beneath it, so the two pull together when closed.

Nothing shows on the outside. There is no button, string or velcro, just a clean edge and a quiet snap. Recipients tend to open and close it a few times, which is exactly the kind of attention a premium brand wants.

How the Magnets Are Built In

The magnets are placed between layers of board before the cover is wrapped. On a rigid build, they sit inside the board panels; see our custom rigid board folders for that hardcover style. On a lighter build, they sit between two sheets of heavy stock.

Magnet strength is matched to the size and the load. A folder holding a few sheets needs only a light pull, while a thick proposal needs a firmer hold so the flap does not pop open. We set this during sampling.

The spine is sized to the contents too. A flat spine suits a few sheets, while a boxed spine with square sides lets a thick stack sit inside without forcing the flap open.

Ordering a Magnet Flap Folder

  1. Tell us what goes inside and how thick the stack will be.
  2. Choose a rigid board build or a lighter heavy-stock build.
  3. Design the outer flap and the cover beneath it as two views.
  4. Pick finishes: soft-touch, foil, spot UV or a cloth wrap.
  5. Approve the free proof of the die-line and flap position.
  6. We set magnet strength so the flap holds a full folder shut.

Custom Magnetic Closure Folders in Premium Kits

Agencies send pitch proposals in them. Product brands use them for launch kits and influencer mailers, and PR teams pair them with press kit folders for media at launch events. Hotels and resorts present welcome packets and room keys with a magnet flap.

Smaller versions hold gift cards, VIP passes or membership cards. Financial advisers and law firms use them to hand over final plans and agreements, where a closed cover adds a sense of privacy.

The folder is often reused long after the event, as a desk organizer or a place to keep contracts. That gives your logo a second life well beyond the first meeting.

Designing the Cover and Flap

The flap gives you a second front. Many designs put the logo on the flap and a tagline or pattern on the cover underneath, revealed when it lifts. Foil stamping and spot UV both work well on the flap edge.

Covers can be printed in full color on paper, laminated in soft-touch or matte film, or wrapped in fabric with a foil logo. Ask for a die-line template from our artwork guidelines page so the flap art lines up with the fold.

What the Magnet Flap Adds

  • A clean edge with no visible clasp
  • A small reveal when the flap opens
  • Contents stay put in transit
  • Second design area under the flap
  • Works for letter, card and gift sizes
  • Pairs with foil and soft-touch finishes

Custom Magnetic Closure Folders: questions we get

Are the magnets visible?

No. They are sealed inside the board or between layers of stock. From the outside you only see the flap and cover design.

Will the magnets damage cards or phones?

The flat magnets used in folders are weak compared to those in speakers or clasps. Even so, we advise against storing magnetic stripe cards right against the magnet area.

Can a magnetic folder hold a thick proposal?

Yes. Tell us the page count and we build the spine and set the magnet pull to keep a full folder closed.

Can magnetic folders be mailed?

Yes. Rigid builds travel well in a padded mailer or box. Lighter builds can go in a stiff envelope.

Is a magnetic closure folder the same as a rigid folder?

Not always. A rigid folder is about the thick board; the magnet flap is a closure that can be added to rigid or lighter builds.
