Custom Photo Folders for 4x6, 5x7 and 8x10 Prints

Custom photo folders are card folders that hold and frame a single print, sized to 4x6, 5x7 or 8x10 photos. Schools, portrait studios and event photographers use them to hand over prints that look finished and stay flat.

  • 4x6, 5x7, 8x10 sizes
  • Window or slip-in mount
  • Studio logo on cover
  • Kraft or white board

Built Around One Print Size

Unlike a pocket folder, a photo folder is sized to the print, not to letter paper. The print slides into a mount behind a cut opening, so it sits square and framed. Choose the size first, since it sets the folder, the opening and the mount together.

A 4x6 folder suits event prints and sports team photos. The 5x7 size is the favorite for school portraits and family sessions. An 8x10 photo folder makes a formal keepsake for graduations, weddings and corporate headshots.

Leave a small margin in mind when you plan the window. The opening is cut slightly smaller than the print, so the photo edges tuck behind the board and never show a white border. We size that overlap for you on the die-line.

Window, Slip-In and Easel Styles

A window folder has an oval, round or rectangle opening on the inside panel, with the photo held behind it. A slip-in mount uses four corner slits or a single pocket, so the whole print shows edge to edge. Both close like a card to protect the image.

An easel back lets the open folder stand on a desk or shelf. It turns a handout into a small frame. For awards and diplomas rather than prints, our custom certificate folders are sized for documents instead.

How to Order Photo Folders

  1. Tell us the print size you deliver, and whether prints are portrait or landscape.
  2. Choose a window shape or a full-print slip-in mount.
  3. Pick board and finish to suit your studio style or school colors.
  4. Send your logo and any cover text, such as a school name and year.
  5. Approve the free proof, then slip prints into the finished folders.

Custom Printed Photo Folders for Studios and Schools

Your logo and contact details belong on the cover or the back panel, where parents and clients will see them every time they open the folder. That small detail brings reorders and referrals. A foil-stamped studio name looks elegant on a dark cover.

Schools often print the school name, crest and year on picture day folders. A matching set of school folders with your crest keeps branding the same across the year. Pantone spot colors hold school colors exactly from one order to the next.

Event photographers can add a short web address or QR code to the back panel. Guests then know where to order more prints or download the full gallery long after the event.

Paper and Cardboard Choices

Custom paper photo folders on 14 pt or 16 pt C2S board are crisp and take full color well. For a heavier, gift-like feel, 18 pt board stays rigid around a large 8x10 print. Linen-textured cover adds a classic studio touch.

Kraft cardboard photo folders give a warm, rustic look that suits weddings and outdoor sessions. White ink prints clearly on kraft. Soft-touch lamination on coated stock resists fingerprints, which matters on folders that get handled a lot.

Custom Photo Folders: questions we get

Can I order personalized photo folders with each student's name?

We print the same design on every folder in a run. For a name on each one, print it on the photo or a label, or use a window that shows a name card behind it.

Do the folders fit both portrait and landscape prints?

A window is cut for one orientation. Tell us which you shoot most, or order two versions so each print fits its frame.

What is a photo presentation folder?

It is a larger folder that holds a print plus papers, such as an order form or a price list. We can add a pocket beside the photo mount for those pages.

Are 4x6 photo folders thick enough to protect prints?

Yes. Even 14 pt board keeps a 4x6 print flat in a bag or backpack. For 8x10 prints, 16 pt or 18 pt board gives extra stiffness.

Can you emboss our studio logo?

Yes. Embossing raises the logo from the board, and it pairs well with foil. Our embossed folders page shows how it works.
