Why Policy Delivery Still Happens on Paper
Many clients still want a printed copy of what they bought. A policy delivery meeting is also a chance to review coverage choices face to face. The folder gives that meeting a clear start and something the client carries home.
Months later, the client opens a drawer to find a policy number. If your folder is what they find, your agency name and phone number are in front of them. That moment is when a printed folder earns its place.

Custom Insurance Folders With Card Slits and Pockets
Auto policies come with ID cards that clients need to find fast. Small die-cut slits on the inside pocket hold those cards in view. A second set of slits holds your agent business card next to them. Clients can then slide one card into the glovebox and leave the rest in the folder.
Use the left pocket for the declarations page and any endorsements, and the right for the full policy form. Property and commercial policies run long, so a capacity pocket may suit those lines better. For a simple single document, our one pocket folder style is a lighter option.
Planning Your Policy Delivery Folder
- List the coverage lines you deliver in person and the thickest policy you hand over.
- Decide how many ID cards the slits must hold, since a family auto policy may have several.
- Write the back panel copy: office address, claims line, hours and website.
- Send logos and any producer names for separate versions.
- Approve the free proof and confirm slit positions against a real ID card.
One Agency Folder for Many Lines of Coverage
Independent agencies sell auto, home, life and business coverage. Printing a different folder for every line is rarely needed. A neutral cover with your agency logo works for all of them, and the inserted pages carry the details.
If you represent several carriers, keep carrier logos off the folder unless your agreements allow it. Your own brand is what should stay with the client. A back panel with office hours, a claims phone line and your website makes the folder useful on its worst day.
Agencies with several producers can print one shared cover and change the agent name on each version.
Choosing Stock and Finish for a Folder Kept for Years
A policy folder may sit in a file box through several renewals. A 14 pt C2S stock is a good minimum, and 16 pt feels more substantial in hand. Aqueous coating protects the print at a lower step than full lamination. Soft-touch lamination is worth a look if you want the folder to feel closer to a premium gift.
Blue and green brand colors are common in insurance, and Pantone spot printing keeps them consistent between reorders. You can see each stock and coating on our folder stock and finish guide before choosing.

Custom Insurance Folders: questions we get
Can the ID card slits fit standard insurance cards?
Yes. We size the slits to a standard wallet card. Send a sample card if yours is unusual, and we check the fit on the proof.
Can we print carrier logos on our folders?
We print what you supply, but check your carrier agreements first. Many agencies keep the folder to their own brand only.
Do insurance folders need a heavy stock?
A 14 pt stock works for most personal lines. Commercial policies and long property forms are better in 16 pt or with a capacity pocket.
Can each producer have their own version?
Yes. One cover design can carry a different producer name and direct phone on each version. Every version is listed separately in your quote.
Are these also good for renewal mailings?
They can be, if the folder fits your mailer envelope. For mailed kits, a smaller size or a lighter stock may help. Our standard presentation folder sizes show the common closed sizes.
